Made By: Kawartha Lakes is being established as an Ontario not-for-profit organization based in Lindsay and created to serve communities throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes.
Good governance is more than a legal requirement. It shapes how decisions are made, how resources are stewarded, how conflicts are managed and how the organization remains accountable to the communities it exists to serve.
During this formation stage, Made By is governed by an inaugural three-person Board of Directors while its operational, financial and public-accountability systems are put in place. As the organization grows, this page will grow with it—providing current information about its Board, governing documents, public policies and organizational reporting.
How Made By: is governed.
Made By is governed collectively by its volunteer Board of Directors. The Board is responsible for protecting the organization’s mission, providing strategic and financial oversight, approving governing policies and ensuring that Made By meets its legal, ethical and public responsibilities.
Day-to-day organizational development and operations are led by Founder and Executive Director Barbara Doyle. During the formation stage, the Founder also serves as a director. Decisions concerning her employment, compensation or another personal interest are made by the remaining disinterested directors, with conflicts declared and managed through Board policy.
As Made By moves from formation into operation, the Board’s composition, skills and oversight systems will continue to develop alongside the organization.

Made By is committed to making its foundational governance information and public responsibilities easy to find. Documents published here will be approved public copies, prepared for accessibility and reviewed to remove personal contact information, signatures and security-sensitive details where appropriate.
